I saw a photo someone had shared of some Rice Krispie treats earlier on this week. I remember having them when I was little and how much I loved them, I instantly got a little craving for some of my own. I also remember having them especially at Easter, so now is the perfect time to make them! Usually people will put marshmallows into their recipes, but I used ‘marshmallow fluff’ and they turned out amazing!
You’ll need three simple ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
1 jar of marshmallow fluff (by using one jar it makes the Rice Krispie treats very ‘marshmallowy’ so if you want more of a subtle taste, use only half of the jar)
5 cups of Rice Krispies
Firstly, melt the butter in a large saucepan on low heat, then add the marshmallow fluff and stir constantly whilst still on low heat for five minutes. Once this is done, remove the saucepan from heat and add the Rice Krispies. Lastly, place the mixture into a lightly greased baking dish and place into the fridge and leave until the mixture has hardened (mine took about an hour)
The mixture stays fresh for a maximum of two days, if you don’t manage to eat them all or make extra, these are suitable for freezing. But before eating after being frozen, let them come to room temperature for about fifteen minutes before serving.
